about

My sister was married in January 2009. I wrote this afterwards, as a kind of ‘sister piece’ to a poem I wrote called "A Wedding Day". The title of the piece, “Eternally Yours,” holds dual meanings - including an imagined salutation at the end of a letter. The (intentional) trailing comma adds a kind of ‘blank cheque’ effect. The music is for and about anyone who devotes their life to another person.

I have mixed feelings about weddings. On one hand little may change - the world moves on, your relationship continues - so in many cases marriage may seem purely symbolic. On the other hand, you’re committing to someone for life. Seeing my sister go through this process was eye-opening, and inspiring. Here I tried to capture various feelings that stem from a wedding, and the sense of devotion and peace that comes from knowing you are with the right person.
