The eldest of the tourers, but one of the most energetic, Terry always astounded me. At 70 she was touring the world with our choir, cross-country skiing, and could speak many languages. But more importantly, I could connect with her. The age gap didn’t matter – she was young at heart. In this piece I focussed on her role as a teller of stories.

A spacious and mysterious narrative turns bright and cheerful as a funky tenor/ bass line emerges (her last name is, after all, ‘Funk’).

Narrator: Once upon a time, there was a story. It had a beginning, but no-one can remember when that was. It has an ending, but no one can tell when that may be. The story contains all other stories. It continues today, even now. But for a story to be heard, there must be a storyteller...
